The Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police has conducted successful raids in Barasat and Dattapukur of North Twenty-four Parganas district, leading to the discovery of an illegal telephone exchange.

During the operation, two Simbox machines containing exchange running equipment were seized, and two individuals were apprehended.

According to STF SP Indrajit Basu, the raids were conducted based on reliable information obtained by the Special Task Force. The illegal simbox operation was exposed, resulting in the arrest of Mohammad Kalimullah and Salimullah, who are father and son. The raid also yielded the recovery of two SIM boxes, 40 preactivated SIM cards, two routers, and other related accessories.

The accused have been presented before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Barrackpore for police remand, and a case has been registered at the airport police station. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
